  • Biography and accomplishments or why Ramses VI was famous: He was a son of Ramses III who succeeded to the throne from his nephew, Ramses V. As with his predecessor  the power of the Pharaoh continued to decrease with the increase in the power of the wealthy priesthood of Amun which controlled the temple land, food supplies and state finances. In an effort to reduce this power he introduced his daughter Isis to the Amun priesthood "in her role as God's Wife of Amun or Divine Adoratice.". In military matters he fought off the attacks from Syrian raiders bringing some stability to the country, especially Thebes.
